We were in the market to finally purchase our first home. We had obtained a pre approval through an out of state mortgage company, all was great. We met with a realtor named Duane Warr who worked at Century 21 and he gladly took us around to view some homes. We came across our DREAM home in a quiet development and decided to make an offer. The offer was accepted and the process began. We contacted our mortgage company and sent in the appropriate documentation and would you believe we were denied the loan! They stated our credit was not up to par and that we should maybe try again in a year. Well after talking with our realtor Duane he couldn’t believe it and stated well let me think on it and call you back. Duane actually contacted the owner and explained our dilemma and stated how much we loved the home. The owner and Duane came up with an idea to do a “Rent to Own” option and rolled that out to us and stated that they would allow us one year in the home while trying to fix the discrepancies on our credit. Duane was so helpful and kind and walked me and my husband through the entire process. Duane kept us informed every step of the way and even suggested a few credit counselors that could help. Well, I just wanted to tell anyone who may think that dreams don’t come true, they are wrong my husband and I were able to buy the house within 6 months!
